More than just a beard!
In short I'm a comic book writer/artist, digital media producer and amateur beard-growing aficionado. I began spitefully making comics while attending the University of Toronto after the comics in the school’s newspaper were so bad I shouted, “I could make a better comic!” Well I did (or at least I hope I did. They were terrible!) and I have been ever since. See? Spite, it’s a powerful motivator! Since then I've done work for Scientific American, Science Rendezvous, Corus Radio Canada, Harvard University, Comedy Central and numerous comic book publishers. Currently I'm the house artist for Chemicals Are Your Friends.
SIDE QUEST: I'm dyslexic! Which leads to all kinds of texting misadventures! If you want to see more of my art, video and audio work, you can see it on my professional work homepage, True Groove. Email? Very Yes!
The Pieces of Eights Campaign!
The story started brewing in my head in the summer of 2009. I’ve always loved the Caribbean pirate lore and am also a huge fan of RPG’s like Dungeons and Dragons so while floating in a lake in cottage country I thought of a way to marry the two worlds together. Pirates and Magic! Sure it wasn’t much to start with but it took root and before long I started building the campaign. I wanted to show a different side of a standard fantasy adventure. In this story I wanted to tackle Law vs Chaos and not Good vs Evil. Also I wanted the protagonist to be pure chaotic neutral (hence the Chaotic Neutral adventure title). After 2 years of character edits, story flushing, second-guessing my art style and even running a Dungeons and Dragons campaign in the Pieces of Eights world, I finally mustered up the courage to start this project. I haven’t looked back since.
